Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo)  is out in cinemas and is breaking every Box Office Record in sight! Opening at $1.2 Billion in its first weekend! That's insane! But the movie also marks the final chapter in a long-running saga that has spanned 11 years. And now with that chapter has closed it's time to look at where the MCU is headed next. Marvel Studios has plenty of movies planned post- Endgame . With several franchises continuing or wrapping up and whole franchises like The Eternals and Shang-Chi  that have been announced and will start off whole new franchises. So in this post, I will be looking into 5 things I think Marvel should focus on going forward. Yesterday Marvel, without warning, released the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame (Joe & Anthony Russo) . After the first trailer and the Superbowl teaser gave absolutely nothing away, fans are hoping that this trailer will give them something that will tell them how the Avengers are going to undo the events of Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo) . First Thoughts Damn, this trailer hits you in the feels, whilst also upping the hype! It looks back on where the heroes have been and where they are now. Whilst also setting up a huge confrontation. And it does all of this without giving anything away! There is no clear message or indicator for the plan to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin)  but has a lot to offer fans for what they can expect from the characters that they have been following for 11 years. Marvel continues its saga with the latest instalment Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck) . Set in the 90s, and pre-dating the first MCU movie Iron Man (2008, Jon Favreau) , the movie follows a Kree Soldier who falls to Earth and slowly discovers that she used to be human, whilst also dealing with an invasion of shape-shifting aliens called the Skrulls. This movie is the first Solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that features a female lead and acts as the set-up for the character appearing in Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) . So there are some high expectations for this movie. After Wonder Woman (2017, Patty Jenkins)  proved how successful a female-lead Superhero movie can be, and the fact that it benefits from a highly loved cinematic franchise, hopefully, this movie can live up to those expectations.  First Thoughts Yeah, this a good movie. 2018 was a huge year for Superhero movies. With game-changing movies such as Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  breaking box office records, Sony having a surprise success with their Spider-Man properties and DC showing they're still in the game with Aquaman (2018, James Wan) . And now 2019 brings a whole new slate of movies. From Meta-reflections of the genre to major storylines coming to an end. And even some studios taking risks with their properties, which is pretty good! So here is the list of Superhero movies coming out. The first trailer for Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boden/Ryan Fleck) has arrived! Marvel's answer to Wonder Woman (2017, Patty Jenkins) . Set 20 years prior to the current MCU films, we follow Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as she battles against the Skrull, a race of aliens that invade planets by disguising themselves as the indigenous population.  First Thoughts This trailer looks good. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's great. There are a few things that hold it back a bit. But it still has me more interested in the film. It's also worth mentioning that Marvel has changed Captain Marvel's origins. Whilst they've kept the part o her being an airforce pilot given superpowers, they've also added some things. Such as giving her amnesia and making her a Kree soldier. This is probably so separate her from DC's Green Lantern, which she shares some uncanny similarities too. But overall. Yesterday Entertainment Weekly released an exclusive first look at Marvel's latest upcoming film, Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boen, Ryan Fleck) featuring first looks at Brie Larson (Room, Kong: Skull Island) as the main protagonist, Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Young Pope)  as Mar-Vell and the antagonists, the Skrull. This film will also set up Captain Marvel for the 4th Avengers film, which Captain Marvel was teased in the final scene. For this post, I haven't examined all of the stills revealed I've chosen the five that I think are worth talking about the most. Photos have been posted on Twitter of Brie Larson (Room, Kong: Skull Island)  in her costume for the upcoming Marvel film, Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck) . This is the first look at the Captain Marvel costume. Larson will be playing the lead character, Carol Danvers, a US Airforce pilot who gains superpowers after having her DNA fused with that of a Kree, the alien race that Ronan (Lee Pierce, Guardians Of The Galaxy)  was from. She's kinda like a mix between Supergirl and Green Lantern . The film is will have the titular character fighting against famous Marvel villains, the Skrull. Shape-shifting aliens who have been at war with the Kree for many years.  First Thoughts Yeah, I don't like this costume. It looks really uncomfortable and doesn't really look like it fits Larson. With the Marvel and DC panels officially over at San Diego Comic-Con, a lot of things were revealed by both sides. From Concept Art and dates for upcoming films. We'll be going through what was revealed and what was talked about on both panels. Marvel Captain Marvel After announcing at last year's SDCC that Brie Larson will be taking the role of Carol Danvers, A.K.A: Captain Marvel, fans finally get some details of what the film will be about. From this concept art, we get to see what her costume will look like, and it looks amazing. It looks similar to Captain America's (Chris Evans) costume. I'm a little on the fence about that, as I think her costumes should stand out from other heroes, but it still looks really good.  Captain Marvel (2019) will take place in the 90s and will see the title character facing against the Skrull.
