The Harry Potter Franchise is one of the most iconic in modern cinema. With a global fanbase that only so very few film franchises can rival and a total of $7.7 billion made worldwide from the original 8 films. And now, Warner Bros. and author J.K Rowling are hoping to continue the success of the Wizarding World with the Fantastic Beasts films. Whilst Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016, David Yates) didn't exactly hit the box office highs of its predecessors it has generated new interest in the Wizarding World, which is expected to grow with the sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald (2018, David Yates) .  First Thoughts This trailer is really intriguing! It doesn't really give a lot away but gives the audience an idea of what to expect. The characters from the first film are back, and the actors seem to be in top form. Yesterday it was reported by Variety that John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Vacation, Horrible Bosses)  are in negotiations to direct the solo Flash movie, titled Flashpoint. This is the first piece of DC news since Walter Hamada (It, The Conjuring)  was hired as Head of the DC Film division. Daley & Goldstein have mainly worked on comedy films and Variety has reported that Warner Bros. is eyeing a more comedic tone to the film. For those who don't know, Flashpoint is about The Flash going back in time to save his mother. But in doing so, he creates a ripple effect that takes the rest of the DC superheroes down very dark paths. First Thoughts I think this is a terrible idea. Whilst the two were screenwriters on Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017, Jon Watts) , which I really liked, I thought the quality of that film was mainly down to Watts's directing more than anything else. In 2013 DC and Zack Snyder started the DCEU with Man Of Steel (2013) . Kicking off a 3-part story arc for Superman (Henry Cavill)  and the expansion of the world of DC. Being continued with Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)  and now is coming full circle with Justice League   (2017) . The DCEU has had something of a shaky existence, with critics being quite harsh on the majority of the films, and fans were divided on the quality of them. Although, with  Wonder Woman (2017)  becoming the most critically acclaimed Superhero movie, and the highest grossing Origin film of all time, it seems that DC's relationship with the critics might be changing. So Warner Bros. Has just dropped the latest trailer for, arguably, their biggest film of the year, Justice League (2017) . In the past week, the promo team for this film has been stepping up their game. With two sets of posters for the main team, that look fantastic, and now audiences have been treated to this new trailer. But what makes this trailer different from the others that come before it? Initial Thoughts This is a damn good trailer! It has emotion, action and great character moments! In this week for news in cinema, the Flash movie is getting a complete redo with a page one rewrite, hope has been rekindled for the Terminator Franchise, possible casting choice for Deadpool 2 has been teased and one of the U.K's best actors has tragically passed. 1. The Flash Movie in Crisis? Yes, things don't seem to be looking well for the Scarlet Speedster. After the second director, Rick Famuyiwa, decided to leave the project in October it seems Warner Bros. have decided to wipe the slate clean with a Page One Rewrite. The Rewrite will be done by writer Joby Harold, who was the writer on Guy Ritchie's King Arthur film coming out this year, he has also written the Robin Hood: Origins film, which will star Taron Egerton as the Main character. Now, whilst I am personally excited to see the new King Arthur movie, both of these two blockbusters, that are to Harold's name, are untested with audiences. On Tuesday 21st June Warner Bros. held a press junket on the set of the latest in-production DC film, Justice League. Which is currently being filmed in London. Media outlets were allowed to explore the set to see what the film would have in store. Surprisingly, whilst many producers wish to keep things under wraps, Warner Bros. released a lot of info on Justice League. From story to character profiles and even descriptions of entire scenes.
