As many of you are aware, DC has many projects lined up for the future. But one that has the most speculation behind it is Matt Reeves's Batman Solo film. This film has produced so many headlines and it doesn't even have a release date yet. From Ben Affleck (Argo, Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice) stepping down as director and writer of the film, to Matt Reeves (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Let Me In)  stepping in as director and writer, and now news that pre-production has been pushed back to later this year! Whilst no points been properly mentioned I'm going to make a list of 5 ideas for what the plot for the new Batman film could centre around. I'm not saying that these stories MUST be in the film. Matt Reeves is a good director and story-teller, also a grown man who can make his own decisions. But these are just some ideas that could work as either the main story or story elements if the creative team went in any of these directions.  1. Red Hood ...

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming Joker Origin film, starring Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator, Walk The Line) as the Joker. The film is the first in a line of films about DC characters that aren't connected to the DCEU. Over the weekend director, Todd Phillips (The Hangover, War Dogs)  released the test for the Joker-Make-up on Twitter, which trended for quite a while and got fans interested in this project. Then, the day after, on-set footage was leaked of Joaquin Phoenix in his make-up as the Joker on the subway. And thanks to this one-two punch, this film has now become a hot commodity for DC.     So how much does this version of the Joker differentiate from other versions? And what does this mean for the current DCEU version of the character played by Jared Leto (Dallas Buyer's Club, Suicide Squad) ? Let's dive in! Last night it reported that actor Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Blade Runner 2049) would not only be acting but producing a Joker Solo film for the DCEU. The reaction to the news has been divisive over fans. Some fans are willing to give Leto another shot whilst others do not wish to see Jared Leto ever wear the Make-up ever again. However, I believe the situation is a little more complicated than people are saying. And, to be honest, more complicated than it really should be. Leto's Joker Personally, I think a Jared Leto Joker movie could be quite good. Leto's Joker was quite interesting and very different from other interpretations of the character. Also, I imagine Leto wants to do the character justice. Whilst I believe  Suicide Squad  did lay a foundation for a good interpretation of the Joker it also held Leto's performance back. With re-edits and poor direction really tying the character down. And audiences noticed this in the final edit of the film and tur...

So the Overall Opening Weekend Box Office haul has come in for Justice League (2017)  and is, unfortunately, the lowest Opening numbers for a DCEU film. Opening at $96 Million in the U.S. $14 million short of predictions, and the first DCEU film to not gross over $100 Million in its opening weekend domestically. However, It's not a failure. These are only the domestic numbers. Globally, the film has earned $285 Million, which puts it in a good place. And, with the B+ CinemaScore, heavy praise from fans and the Thanksgiving weekend coming up Justice League  can still turn a sizeable profit. The only issue is that it wasn't as big a splash as Warner Bros. was hoping it to be.  Because of this, the company may be a bit concerned with the future of the DCEU and so, they'll have to review the entire property. Look at what's working in the films and what's not. And so I've decided to come up with a list of things that Warner Bros should look into in terms of the DC...

Yesterday evening it was announced that DC and Warner Bros. were green lighting a Joker Origin story. With Todd Philips (The Hangover, War Dogs)  directing and to Co-Write with Scott Silver (8 Mile, The Fighter) and, most interestingly, Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, The Departed)  would be producing. It was also confirmed that it would not feature Jared Leto's interpretation of the character. But will have a different actor in the role and will not be a part of the DCEU continuity. Personally, I believe that this is a very bad idea. There is just so much going against this. Both in terms of the DCEU and also the mythos of the character himself. Jared Leto's Joker One thing that will definitely become apparent is that DC's film department will become A Tale Of Two Jokers. Many critics were not kind to Leto's interpretation of The Joker, saying it lacked in comparison to other versions of the character, such as Heath Ledger's go in The Dark Knight (2008) and ...

For this blog I'm starting a new thing called Weekly Movie Updates, where I highlight 5 movie headlines that came out in the week and discuss them. I can't promise that I'd be able to do this every week but I will do my best to do so. 1. Jared Leto cast in Blade Runner 2 The sequel to the iconic 1982 movie has cast Jared Leto. Whilst it hasn't been clarified as to the type of role that Leto will be playing it is most likely that he'll be playing a replicant (Robots that look like people). The reason I think this is because Leto's charisma, especially after playing the Joker, would be better suited for that kind of character. If you've ever seen the original Blade Runner then you'll know about the main antogonist, Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), who embodied the ideals of rebellion with his punk look and inhuman characteristics.
