MCU Going Forward (Endgame Spoilers)

Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo)  is out in cinemas and is breaking every Box Office Record in sight! Opening at $1.2 Billion in its first weekend! That's insane! But the movie also marks the final chapter in a long-running saga that has spanned 11 years. And now with that chapter has closed it's time to look at where the MCU is headed next. Marvel Studios has plenty of movies planned post- Endgame . With several franchises continuing or wrapping up and whole franchises like The Eternals and Shang-Chi  that have been announced and will start off whole new franchises. So in this post, I will be looking into 5 things I think Marvel should focus on going forward. The 5-year Gap The first thing I want to talk about is the 5-year gap for all of those who were brought back from Thanos' snap. They all seemed to come back the same age that they died and are now part of a world that has had to adjust to a lower population. The two characters I expect to be ...

Avengers: Endgame (Non-Spoiler) Review

11 years since Iron Man (2008, Jon Favreau) came out and began the biggest franchise in cinematic history. Who knew that they would come to this? Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo)  is the end of the long-running story arc that has been building since that very first movie back in 2008. And answers everyone's questions after the shocking events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo) . After that movie was a blockbuster juggernaut, breaking the $2 Billion Mark worldwide, a lot of expectations are hanging on this movie. Can it truly live up to it? Fans have put a lot of trust into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have rarely been disappointed. So, hopefully, this movie will what fans have been asking for since the climax to Infinity War. First Thoughts Avengers: Endgame is without a doubt the best MCU movie ever made. Paying off just about everything that has already been set up in such an epic and satisfying way. Character arcs come to a...

Avengers: Endgame Trailer Highlights

Yesterday Marvel, without warning, released the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame (Joe & Anthony Russo) . After the first trailer and the Superbowl teaser gave absolutely nothing away, fans are hoping that this trailer will give them something that will tell them how the Avengers are going to undo the events of Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo) . First Thoughts Damn, this trailer hits you in the feels, whilst also upping the hype! It looks back on where the heroes have been and where they are now. Whilst also setting up a huge confrontation. And it does all of this without giving anything away! There is no clear message or indicator for the plan to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin)  but has a lot to offer fans for what they can expect from the characters that they have been following for 11 years. For anyone who has yet to see the trailer. Here it is: 1. A Reflection on 11 years The trailer starts with a lovely look back at the past MCU movies...

Top 9 Upcoming Superhero Movies in 2019 (100th Post!)

2018 was a huge year for Superhero movies. With game-changing movies such as Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  breaking box office records, Sony having a surprise success with their Spider-Man properties and DC showing they're still in the game with Aquaman (2018, James Wan) . And now 2019 brings a whole new slate of movies. From Meta-reflections of the genre to major storylines coming to an end. And even some studios taking risks with their properties, which is pretty good! So here is the list of Superhero movies coming out. Ranked from what I am least excited for to what I'm most excited for. 9. Glass The first movie on this list that's scheduled to come out this year is M. Night Shyamalan's long-awaited follow-up to his cult hit Unbreakable (2000) . After Split (2016)  turned out to be a backdoor sequel to Unbreakable  fans have been awaiting the release of Glass . Bruce Willis (Die Hard, the 6th Sense) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fict...

Top 10 MCU films

With Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe Russo/Anthony Russo)  about to hit theatres I thought it would be good to look back on the long road travelled and pick the top 10 films produced by Marvel Studios. Just to clarify, this list is completely subjective so this list may differ from your own personal list. Also, I will only be focusing on the films that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So any films made by Fox or Sony won't make the cut. 10. Doctor Strange The Introduction of magic into the MCU, Doctor Strange (2016, Scott Derrickson)  is a fun watch. Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Imitation Game)  does a fine job as the titular character and has a really good message of picking yourself up and rebuilding yourself when you've hit a really low point in life. The film also sports some very good visually interesting use of magic, with fight scenes that are quite suspenseful and more action-packed, unlike other fantasy films where two characters just...

Avengers Infinity War: Trailer Highlights

With Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  fast approaching, Marvel thought it appropriate to release the second trailer, to increase the already incredible hype over the film! It seems that Marvel is taking a similar approach to the  Infinity War publicity that Lucasfilm took with Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, Rian Johnson) . By keeping everything veiled in secrecy and releasing only a couple of trailers as possible, even having the second one come out so close to the theatrical release. Probably because, much like how Lucasfilm thought of The Last Jedi , Marvel knows that fans are not going to miss this film. It feels a lot more like an event than it does a cinema-going experience. First Thoughts Okay, this is a much better trailer than the first! The action and effects look incredible, the character interactions seem great and villain actually looks more threatening. This trailer gives away very little, only showing plot points that everyone...

Top 10 Superhero film of 2018

And so the Superhero Genre continues with another year of films! 2017 saw Marvel continue in great success with some of its big franchises, such as Guardians Of The Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok and DC saw great success with Wonder Woman and unfortunate problems with Justice League. But next year sees the genre grow even bigger! With both new heroes, continuations of heroes and some Ani-Heroes joining the field! 10. New Mutants (April 13th) The only reason that this film is at the bottom of my list is that, whilst I was interested in the Trailer, I was not impressed by it. However, I do appreciate experimentation in cinema. And this is definitely quite a new take on the Superhero genre. By adding a horror element to the mix. New Mutants  centres around a group of mutants inside a secret facility and coming to terms with their abilities. Maisie Williams (Game Of Thrones, iBoy)  and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Shut In) . It looks interesting and I'm sure it'll stand ...
