Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Review (Non-Spoilers)

In 2016 the Harry Potter franchise was brought back to the big screen with Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016, David Yates)  which built on the franchise, gave audiences a new look at the Wizarding World and introduced everyone to Newt Scamander, played by the talented Eddie Redmayne (Theory Of Everything, The Danish Girl) . And now its sequel hopes to continue that story. Now focusing on the war between the Ministry and Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp)  a dark wizard who is crucial to the character development of everyone's favourite future headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) . Boasting a stellar cast and incredible Visuals, how well does it live up to previous Wizarding World movies? First Thoughts Overall, I liked this film. It’s really good to step back into the Wizarding World and the film does a good job of building on it. And not just the world, but the characters as well are developed more in this film. However, the film does feel a little e...

Venom Review (Non-Spoilers)

Sony begins its new era of Spider-Man related films with their solo movie, Venom (2018, Ruben Fleischer) . Featuring the fan-favourite Spidey Villain/Anti-Hero. With Marvel Studios and Sony sharing custody over Spider-Man (Tom Holland) , allowing him to star in the MCU, Sony is hoping to make a bunch of movies focusing around characters that are part of the Spider-Man brand, and they are hoping that Venom will be there version of Deadpool (2016, Tim Miller) , with an Anti-Hero who plays by his own rules. And with Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception) playing the main character you can expect a good performance.     But with Sony's spotty track record when it comes to their Spider-Man property this movie can go either way. Hopefully, this will be more Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) than Mark Webb (500 Days Of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man) . First Thoughts Overall, I think this film is good. It's got good action, acting and humour. It'll definitely ...

Mission: Impossible Fallout Review (No Spoilers)

Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Minority Report) is back for the 6th instalment in one of his most beloved franchises, Mission: Impossible. The franchise that started out in 1996 and has been going on since with each film trying to make itself bigger and better than its predecessor. And now this new film Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018, Christopher McQuarrie) is set to be the biggest one yet! For the first time in the Series' history, the director from the previous film has returned to helm the sequel, which is really good as Rogue Nation (2015, Christopher McQuarrie)  more or less found the right tone for the series in that film. First Thoughts This film is perhaps the best action film of 2018! Yeah! I'm calling it! The action is exciting and intense, the acting is really good and the story is really suspenseful. This was possibly one of the most adrenaline-fueled experiences I've ever had at the cinema. With every scene having nail-biting stakes. Ethan Hunt/Tom Crui...

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Review (No Spoilers)

3 years ago the Jurassic Park franchise was given its fourth instalment Jurassic World (2015, Colin Trevorrow) .   A film that went on to become a box office juggernaut. De-throning Avengers(2012, Joss Whedon)  as the third highest grossing film of all time (before Star Wars came along). And now the franchise continues with the latest instalment  Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018, J. A. Bayona) .  But with many fans criticising Jurassic World of relying heavily on Nostalgia and a director who hasn't worked on a big-budget blockbuster before, will this film reach the same level of success as its predecessor? First Thoughts This film is amazing! Whilst the first Jurassic World relied heavily on the nostalgia of the original Jurassic Park this one is more or less its own thing! It has an emotional story, the characters have improved since the previous film and the dinosaurs are incredible!  Owen/Chris Pratt I loved Chris Pratt in...

Avengers: Infinity War Review (No Spoilers)

A film that is 10 years in the making! Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  brings together every aspect of the MCU, all to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin) , a villain who has built up ever since the first Avengers (2012, Joss Whedon) . With Fan excitement at an all-time high, expectations off the scale and a lot to cover in just one film, Infinity War has got a lot of work to do. Can it balance everything? This is a Non-Spoiler Review. So, if you haven't seen the film then you might like to read this. However, this is one paragraph in which I talk about the finale and story structure and, whilst doesn't have anything specific, features things that could be considered spoilers to some readers. So, I would suggest skipping that paragraph if you want to see the film with a clean slate. First Thoughts This movie is insane! From beginning to end it grabs you and doesn't let go! I would compare Avengers: Infinity War to a Rollercoaster. In the sense tha...

A Quiet Place: Non-Spoiler Review

A Quiet Place (2018)  is the third feature film to be directed by John Krasinski  (The Office, 13 Hours) . Starring Krasinski himself, along with his wife, Emily Blunt  (The Devil Wears Prada, Edge Of Tomorrow) . Centring around a family who are trying to survive in a Post-apocalypse world ravaged by creatures that can only hunt via hearing. Meaning that the family must remain very quiet in their day-to-day life. Because of this, the film has minimal dialogue. First Thoughts This movie is amazing! I went in with moderate expectations, as I really had no plans to see it. My co-workers just invited me on the day to see it and I thought I’d go. But it blew me away! The acting is great, the tension is unbelievable, and the drama is heart-breaking. Yes, whilst this film works really well as a horror it also works great as a family drama. I cannot recommend this film enough! Lee Abbott/John Krasinski I was not expecting such a powerful performance from Krasinski!...
