Avengers: Endgame Trailer Highlights

Yesterday Marvel, without warning, released the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame (Joe & Anthony Russo) . After the first trailer and the Superbowl teaser gave absolutely nothing away, fans are hoping that this trailer will give them something that will tell them how the Avengers are going to undo the events of Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo) . First Thoughts Damn, this trailer hits you in the feels, whilst also upping the hype! It looks back on where the heroes have been and where they are now. Whilst also setting up a huge confrontation. And it does all of this without giving anything away! There is no clear message or indicator for the plan to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin)  but has a lot to offer fans for what they can expect from the characters that they have been following for 11 years. For anyone who has yet to see the trailer. Here it is: 1. A Reflection on 11 years The trailer starts with a lovely look back at the past MCU movies...

Captain Marvel Review (No Spoilers)

Marvel continues its saga with the latest instalment Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck) . Set in the 90s, and pre-dating the first MCU movie Iron Man (2008, Jon Favreau) , the movie follows a Kree Soldier who falls to Earth and slowly discovers that she used to be human, whilst also dealing with an invasion of shape-shifting aliens called the Skrulls. This movie is the first Solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that features a female lead and acts as the set-up for the character appearing in Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) . So there are some high expectations for this movie. After Wonder Woman (2017, Patty Jenkins)  proved how successful a female-lead Superhero movie can be, and the fact that it benefits from a highly loved cinematic franchise, hopefully, this movie can live up to those expectations.  First Thoughts Yeah, this a good movie. It's fun to watch and introduces audiences to an interesting new hero. However, compared to ...

Alita: Battle Angel Review (Non-Spoilers)

Whilst comic book movies have become a staple in the blockbuster landscape, Manga/Anime adaptations have had a problem getting off the ground. Dragonball: Evolution (2009, James Wong)  was hated by anime fans and recently, Ghost In The Shell (2017, Rupert Sanders) failed to click with audiences. But now director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Sin City) and Producer James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar)  are hoping to change that with their adaptation of the Manga series Alita: Battle Angel. First Thoughts This is a good movie. It's fun, exciting and action-packed. The acting in it is quite good and the VFX are incredible. Although, it's not without its problems. Tonally, the film isn't quite sure what it wants to be and the story is quite muddled. Rosa Salazar/Alita Rosa Salazar (The Maze Runner, Insurgent) does a really good job as the lead. She's able to do cute-as-a-button and then switches to complete badass on a dime. Alita is a very compelling character,...

Batman Solo Movie: Top 5 Ideas

As many of you are aware, DC has many projects lined up for the future. But one that has the most speculation behind it is Matt Reeves's Batman Solo film. This film has produced so many headlines and it doesn't even have a release date yet. From Ben Affleck (Argo, Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice) stepping down as director and writer of the film, to Matt Reeves (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Let Me In)  stepping in as director and writer, and now news that pre-production has been pushed back to later this year! Whilst no points been properly mentioned I'm going to make a list of 5 ideas for what the plot for the new Batman film could centre around. I'm not saying that these stories MUST be in the film. Matt Reeves is a good director and story-teller, also a grown man who can make his own decisions. But these are just some ideas that could work as either the main story or story elements if the creative team went in any of these directions.  1. Red Hood ...

Top 9 Upcoming Superhero Movies in 2019 (100th Post!)

2018 was a huge year for Superhero movies. With game-changing movies such as Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  breaking box office records, Sony having a surprise success with their Spider-Man properties and DC showing they're still in the game with Aquaman (2018, James Wan) . And now 2019 brings a whole new slate of movies. From Meta-reflections of the genre to major storylines coming to an end. And even some studios taking risks with their properties, which is pretty good! So here is the list of Superhero movies coming out. Ranked from what I am least excited for to what I'm most excited for. 9. Glass The first movie on this list that's scheduled to come out this year is M. Night Shyamalan's long-awaited follow-up to his cult hit Unbreakable (2000) . After Split (2016)  turned out to be a backdoor sequel to Unbreakable  fans have been awaiting the release of Glass . Bruce Willis (Die Hard, the 6th Sense) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fict...

Top 10 Blockbusters To Look Out For In 2019

And so 2018 has come to a close and now we look to what this year has in store. With sequels to beloved films, remakes of beloved films, Spin-Offs to popular franchises and another shot at adapting video games! This is sure to be one Hell of a year! Just as a disclaimer. There are no Superhero Movies in this list as they will have a list of their own published soon. 10. Frozen 2 The inevitable sequel to the Juggernaut that was Frozen (2013, Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck) . Disney is hoping that lightning strikes twice with this next instalment. After the first one created a mini-empire within the Mouse-House. From merchandise to a theme park ride to mini shorts such as Frozen Fever (2015, Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck) . This movie's synopsis is that Elsa and Anna will journey beyond Arendelle. So it looks like Disney are building on the first one, which is good as the first one felt quite isolated. However, after the huge amount of merchandise and a couple of short sequels, a...

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Review (No Spoilers)

It's safe to say that 2018 has been a good year for Spider-Man. Like a really good year! He was in Avengers: Infinity war (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  he had a very popular video game released on the PS4 and now he has his own animated movie. But it's also been a good year for Miles Morales, who featured in the video game and is the main character of this animated movie. With Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street)  at the helm, this should be an interesting take on the character! But will mainstream audiences be open to this different version of Spider-Man? And will audiences pay to see it as an animated movie? First Thoughts This is not just the best Spider-Man movie I have ever watched but one of the best animated movies I have ever seen. The characters are fun to watch, the art and animation are beyond stunning and it truly understands its source material. This feels like a Spider-Man comic and it's perfect! Miles Morales/Ultim...
