Spider-Man: Homecoming Review (SPOILERS)

Spider-Man has quite a few ups and downs since his first film in 2002. With the third movie derailing the original trilogy and then the controversial reboot in 2012. Now Spider-Man is now on his second reboot, with shared-custody between Marvel Studios/Disney and Sony. With Tom Holland coming into the role in last year's Captain America: Civil War  to tremendously positive results! With many calling him the highlight of that film. Now this version of Spider-man has been given his own solo film. With many hoping that it will bring Spider-Man back to his glory days in film. First Thoughts This film is fantastic! Really incorporating all of the elements that have made Spider-Man relatable for decades! The action is amazing, the humour is on-point (Particularly for a Spider-Man film) and the storyline is so fitting for the character! I really enjoyed the John Hughes-Inspiration that they took for this film. Giving it more of a coming-of-age feel, which is great because the f...

Marvel/DC: San Diego Comic-Con

With the Marvel and DC panels officially over at San Diego Comic-Con, a lot of things were revealed by both sides. From Concept Art and dates for upcoming films. We'll be going through what was revealed and what was talked about on both panels. Marvel Captain Marvel After announcing at last year's SDCC that Brie Larson will be taking the role of Carol Danvers, A.K.A: Captain Marvel, fans finally get some details of what the film will be about. From this concept art, we get to see what her costume will look like, and it looks amazing. It looks similar to Captain America's (Chris Evans) costume. I'm a little on the fence about that, as I think her costumes should stand out from other heroes, but it still looks really good.  Captain Marvel (2019) will take place in the 90s and will see the title character facing against the Skrull. This actually makes a lot of sense, as Carol Danvers gets her abilities from a Kree warrior, also called Captain Marvel. In the Marvel...

San Diego Comic-Con 2017: Top 5 Trailers

It's that time of year again, guys! The geekfest that is San Diego Comic-Con has come, and with it, new content on upcoming films has been shown. Yesterday a load of trailers were released online. Unfortunately not as many trailers released compared to the last year's Hall H presentations. However, I was still able to find 5 trailers which really were the highlight of Comic-Con 2017. No.5: Bright This is one of the most intriguing films that is set to come out this year. Looking a lot like End Of Watch (2017)  and The Lord Of The Rings (2001) . Where magical creatures have been living in our world for a while. It follows a beat cop, played by Will Smith (Independence Day, Suicide Squad)  who is partnered with an Orc, played by Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Zero Dark Thirty) , who must protect a magic wand, a weapon that people would kill for in order to obtain. The trailer shows some very good visuals, a fascinating aesthetic for the world the film is based in, and some pre...

Jodie Whittaker is the 13th Doctor!

On the 16th of July, after the men's Wimbledon final, it was announced by the BBC that Jodie Whittaker ( Broadchurch, St. Trinian's) will be taking over the role of The Doctor in the Sci-Fi classic show Doctor Who  after Peter Capaldi will be exiting the show after the Christmas Special this year. Normally I don't really talk about Television on this blog. But I've been a huge fan of Doctor Who  since its return in 2005. And I feel that this casting announcement is such a big deal that it's definitely worth discussing. Both in how much of a change it is to the show and the heavily polarised reaction to the news. With some Praising the idea almost as if it's the second coming and others up in arms over it as if Ragnarok is about to begin. Arguments For More conservative audiences who are opposed to the idea of a female doctor have branded this casting as an SJW/Feminist agenda move. With horrible, over-blown comments such as '#notmydoctor' and '...

Baby Driver Movie Review (SPOILERS)

There a few auteur directors working in Hollywood these days that you go and see a film just because that certain director was the one who made it. These are your Christopher Nolans, your David Finchers, your Martin Scorceses. And I would definitely put Edgar Wright on that list. The man has a very unique way of using visuals to portray both action and comedy that has captivated fans and mainstream audiences since Shaun Of The Dead (2004) . And continued to make cult hits such as Hot Fuzz (2007), Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010), and The World's End (2013) . Making him a household name in the U.K. But lately, in this decade, Edgar Wright has been trying to break into Hollywood. He was given the chance with Scott Pilgrim , which was a critical success but a financial disaster. Earning $48 million (estimated) worldwide compared to its $60 million (estimated) budget. And then in 2014, he was kicked off of Marvel's Ant-Man (2015) due to creative issues, holding his career back...

The Mummy Review (SPOILERS!!)

With many different Cinematic Universes saturating the movie theatres these days, such as the Disney's MCU, FOX's MCU, the DCEU, the Fast & Furious, many forget that the first ever Cinematic Universe was Universal's Classic Horror Universe. Featuring famous characters such as Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Now, in the very competitive film market, Universal is hoping to reboot this universe, with the new name Dark Universe , with its first entry The Mummy . Tom Cruise appears to be haveing a career renaissance, with films like Edge Of Tomorrow and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation  hitting it big with fans. Can his star power help to launch this revamp of a classic Cinematic Universe? First Thoughts Is this an enjoyable film? Yes. Is it unique or groundbreaking? Unfortunately not. I wanted to love this film! It ranked No.9 in my Top films to look out for in 2017! But, sadly, this film seems to follow the same generic conventions that audiences would ex...
