10 movies to look out for in 2016

So the slate for 2016 is one of the most exciting we've seen. Several comic book movies, Epic blockbusters and, of course, sequels! This is a list of 10 movies to look out this new year.

10.Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
Personally I'm not a big fan of Tim Burton, I think his stuff is too creepy and to have poor stories (Particularly Alice In Wonderland and Dark Shadows). However, when I heard about this film I was intrigued as it sounds like a Gothic version of X-Men. Not to mention Jane Goldman, who's worked Kingsman and X-Men: First Class, is writing the screenplay. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Eva Green and Asa Butterfield. All fantastic actors, which makes me quite excited for this film, despite Tim Burton.

9. Moana
In 2013 Disney released Frozen and had an extremely popular hit on their hands. Now, they're hoping to re-create the success with a new Princess who's absolutely nothing like Elsa. Moana! This film will focus on Polynesian culture, as is shown through the beautiful concept art that was shown at the D23 Expo. And will star Dwayne Johnson as Demi-God Maui and newcomer Auli'i Cravalho as Moana. The best part about this casting is that both actors are native Hawaiin so they have roots in the culture and Cravalho is the same age as her character. This is a definitely going to be a big hit for Disney.

8. X-men: Apocalypse
2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past was serious game changer for this franchise is it revitalised it. Now Bryan Singer is back with the third installment of this Prequel trilogy and it looks great. The trailer makes Apocalypse look like a brilliant villain (Even if the first stills of the character made him look goofy). The new actors playing the iconic characters look so well cast, like Sophie turner as Jean grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Lana Condor as Jubilee fit so well into their roles it's like Singer has literally just taken the characters straight out of a comic book. I have no doubt that this film will live up to the quality of the last one.

7. Warcraft
I'm going to be honest. I have never played World Of Warcraft in my life, neither do I know anything about the story. But it's directed by Duncan Jones, who's directed films like Moon and Source Code, both great films. So I'm already invested. From the look of the first trailer I feel that this will a great film. The characters seem well defined, the action looks intense and the visuals are spectacular to say the least. Hopefully this'll be a great introduction to the Warcraft franchise for those who are unfamiliar whilst also honours those who are fans with this seemingly spectacular- looking film

6. Rogue One: A Star Wars story
Star Wars is back! After Force Awakens audiences will be given the first Live-Action Star Wars spin-off movie. Director Gareth Edwards promises this film to be a Star Wars version of Black Hawk Down, as it looks at the SW universe from a military perspective. It's also good to note at the diversity of the cast as it consists of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mednelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.

5. The Legend Of Tarzan
David Yates did a great job directing the final 4 Harry Potter films and now he's bringing back his magic with this adaptation of Tarzan. Every shot in the trailer for this looks like a painting and captures the beauty of Africa. Alexander Skarsgard seems like he was born to play this character with his long hair and jacked Physique. He's supported by other brilliant actors like Chritoph Waltz, Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou.

4.The Revenant
This hasn't come out yet in the U.K so it counts! Alfonso Gonzalez Inarritu is hot off the success of Birdman and is now taken a shot at the American Frontier. This film looks dark, gritty and downright awesome! After delays with this film's release due to some serious production problems this movie would be hotly anticipated by anyone who likes films. Just to see how well they put this together despite its major setbacks. Also this just might be the film that gets Leo his Oscar! As he seriously pushed himself for this role such as learning two Native American languages, eating a Bison liver, learning to shoot a musket, build a fire and studied ancient healing techniques! What's a man got to do to get an Oscar?!

3. Suicide Squad
I'm a huge fan of Superhero films and this one has seriously got me interested. Because it's the first time in the genre that the protagonists are villains. Not to mention this film will extend more of the new DC universe as it branches out its upcoming franchise. David Ayer is directing, and is certainly doing a good, judging by the trailers. Also this film re-imagines the most popular villain in fiction, the Joker (Jared Leto). Who has to live up to the amazing performance Heath Ledger gave almost 8 years ago as the character.

2. Assassin's Creed
I love this game franchise as it has such an amazing story, spanning over decades of history. Now the film version has been made and, whilst we've only seen stills, I am hyped! The team behind 2015's fantastic adaptation of Macbeth are back for this blockbuster. Justin Kurzel is directing whilst Michael Fasbender and Marion Cottilard star. I have high hopes that it'll capture the feeling of the games as Kurzel has proven himself to be faithful to the source material whilst also being able to adapt it to epic proportions.

1. Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Words cannot describe how much I am looking forward to this film. Zack Snyder has shown his sense for style in his directing and now he's backed up by the brilliant screenplay writer Chris Terrio to give us, what is going to be, a masterpiece of a blockbuster. Henry Cavill is back as Superman and is joined by Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. I have no doubt this film will perfectly portray the shaky relationship between the Man Of Steel and the Dark Knight, their journey from rivals to friends and will sew the seeds for future DC titles (Justice League, anyone?)

Overall, 2016 looks like it's going to be one of the biggest years for films. I hope this list helps anyone and I know I missed quite a few films out. I know there are loads of other great films coming out this year but I could only choose 10 for this list. Thanks for reading :)

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Review (No Spoilers)

The final episode in the sequel trilogy, and the overall Skywalker Saga, is finally out! Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019, J.J Abrams) will hopefully answer the questions that have been set up since the beginning of this trilogy in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015, J.J Abrams) . But due to fans being displeased with this new trilogy, such as the highly negative response from fans after the previous instalment Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, Rian Johnson)  and with the latest anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, Ron Howard) being a financial disaster, can this movie live up to the success of its predecessors and redeem the franchise in the eyes of fans? First Thoughts This movie is good, I liked it as a movie. The action's good, the visuals are great and the characters are fun to watch. But as a finale to the overall Skywalker Saga, it's quite disappointing. The story feels more like it's trying to make up for lost time rather than tell a good stor...

SDCC 2018. Top Five Movie Trailers

SDCC has come and gone, and with it, a whole load of movie trailers have dropped for fans to sink their teeth into! Overall, it seems that Warner Bros. dominated the convention, bringing in new content from most of their divisions, such as DC, The Wizarding World and their Monster Universe. So, without further ado, here is my top 5 list of the movie trailers that were released this year for Comic-Con. 5. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald The hype for this new chapter in the Wizarding World continues with the latest trailer. Whilst the trailer doesn't really reveal a lot more than the previous trailer it does give us some good moments. The beginning with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as a child showing his greatest fear is working behind a desk or that Dumbledore (Jude Law)  sees Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in the Mirror of Erised. We even get to see new beasts, such as the strange cat creatures, and the first look at Nicholas Flemel, the creator of the Phil...

Aladdin Movie Review (No Spoilers)

Aladdin (1992, Ron Clements/Jon Musker)  is one of the standout animated movies of the Disney Renaissance that took place in the '90s. With hit songs, like A Whole New World , and a Performances from Robin Williams (Hook, Good Will Hunting)  as the Genie. And now, with Disney producing Live-action of their animated classics, a Live-Action Aladdin seemed inevitable. But with Guy Ritchie directing (Rock'N'Rolla, Sherlock Holmes) having something a spotty track record at the box office, and with his last movie King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword  being bashed by critics. Not to mention the lacklustre first reactions to the promotional material of this movie. Should Disney be concerned with how this performs with critics and the box office? Or will this movie's nostalgia factor be enough to get it through all that? Initial Thoughts I really enjoyed this movie! From the trailers and TV Spots, this movie kinda looks like a shallow reimagining of the animated origina...
