Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald - Trailer Highlights

The Harry Potter Franchise is one of the most iconic in modern cinema. With a global fanbase that only so very few film franchises can rival and a total of $7.7 billion made worldwide from the original 8 films. And now, Warner Bros. and author J.K Rowling are hoping to continue the success of the Wizarding World with the Fantastic Beasts films. Whilst Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016, David Yates) didn't exactly hit the box office highs of its predecessors it has generated new interest in the Wizarding World, which is expected to grow with the sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald (2018, David Yates)

First Thoughts

This trailer is really intriguing! It doesn't really give a lot away but gives the audience an idea of what to expect. The characters from the first film are back, and the actors seem to be in top form. But the new characters (Or new actors in some cases) also really stand out! The visuals seem to be on point, giving us new things we haven't seen yet in the Wizarding World, so it'll be good to see this universe expand. For those who haven't yet seen the trailer, here it is:

1. Hogwarts

Yes, we return to Hogwarts. This version of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is set back in the 1920s. So, with the very few shots that we saw of the school... it looks exactly the damn same! Like, do they even try to update it in the 70+ years between these films and the first The Philosopher's Stone (2001, Christopher Columbus)? Then again, when everyone can do magic, does the place really need refurbishing? But, apart from that, it's good to see Hogwarts again. A good callback to the roots of this franchise.

2. Newt & Dumbledore

In the trailer, it seems that Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) has indoctrinated Newt (Eddie Redmayne) into the war against Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). So it seems that Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) wasn't the only Hogwarts student that Dumbledore enrolled in a war against a dark wizard! But Jude Law looks pretty good as Dumbledore. He doesn't seem to have that much of a resemblance to his older incarnation from the original films, particularly with his dress sense, but I can forgive that. Jude Law's a good actor and I have no doubt that he'll make this role his own.

3. Jacob Kowalski

Jacob (Dan Fogler) is back! After having his memory restored after seeing Queenie (Alison Sudol) at his bakery at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them it seems that he's being brought back into the Wizarding World. A personal highlight of mine from the previous film. The relationship between him and Newt was really good! It was funny, heart-warming and very human. And now the two will get into more hijinx together! So long as there are more Newt/Jacob scenes I'll be happy!

4. Creedence

We already knew that Creedence (Ezra Miller) would be back for this sequel. At the end of the first film, after being destroyed by a bunch of Aurors, a small fragment of him escaped. But now it seems that he's gotten stronger! In one part of the trailer, it looks like he's able to use his Obscurus as some kind of force, instead of just becoming it. Which looks kinda cool! I'm not sure what the film plans to do with Creedence but I'm very intrigued to know what it is!

5. Grindelwald

There has been quite a bit of backlash towards the casting of Johnny Depp (Pirates Of The Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands) in this role. Primarily for the conflict between him and his Ex-Wife, Amber Heard (Never Back Down, Justice League). But also because of his more recent body of work, where he more or less just hammed in his performances Personally, I'm not too sure what to make of Johnny Depp in this role, since we haven't really seen enough of him to make a judgement. I'll admit that he looks good as the character. He's got a sinister vibe going on, which is good. Hopefully, he does a better job than he did as his last entry as Captain Jack Sparrow in Salazar's Revenge (2017, Joachim Ronning, Espen Sandberg).

Conclusion

Yeah, I'm excited to see what this film has in store for fans! The characters look good, the visuals look great and the story is very intriguing. I think Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them did a lot to set up a good story so hopefully this film can pick up where that film left off!

So those are my highlights for the teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. What did you think of the trailer? Leave a comment down below. And, if you liked this post, please follow this blog for more content. Thank you for reading. :)

Spider-Man Out of the MCU? - Situation Review

A couple of days ago it was revealed that re-negotiations between Sony and Disney around Spider-Man have fallen through and the character will be taken out of the MCU entirely. This has come as quite a shock to most fans, especially after the release of the latest movie Spider-Man: Far From Home (John Watts)  which recently passed the $1 Billion mark in the worldwide box office.     So what does this mean for the future of the beloved Superhero? Well in this Situation Review I will be discussing why Sony did what they did and several possibilities for what will happen with Spider-Man. Disney Vs Sony So, the decision comes after Disney wanted to change the deal that they had with Sony so that they would gain 50% of the overall gross of the Spider-Man movies, rather than the 5% that they were currently receiving. A move that Sony wasn't happy with.     Now, if they were only talking about the movies then this would seem like a fair deal. The two studios would split the c

SDCC 2018. Top Five Movie Trailers

SDCC has come and gone, and with it, a whole load of movie trailers have dropped for fans to sink their teeth into! Overall, it seems that Warner Bros. dominated the convention, bringing in new content from most of their divisions, such as DC, The Wizarding World and their Monster Universe. So, without further ado, here is my top 5 list of the movie trailers that were released this year for Comic-Con. 5. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald The hype for this new chapter in the Wizarding World continues with the latest trailer. Whilst the trailer doesn't really reveal a lot more than the previous trailer it does give us some good moments. The beginning with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as a child showing his greatest fear is working behind a desk or that Dumbledore (Jude Law)  sees Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in the Mirror of Erised. We even get to see new beasts, such as the strange cat creatures, and the first look at Nicholas Flemel, the creator of the Philosoph

Spider-Man: Far From Home Review (No Spider-Man spoilers, Endgame Spoilers)

So after the immense success of Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) , becoming the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time. And now, Marvel hopes to continue their ongoing story with Season 2 Episode 1. Spider-Man: Far From Home (Jon Watts) . The second movie in the MCU's new Spider-Man trilogy, which has proved incredibly popular with fans of both the MCU and Spider-Man in general. But with things like the events of Endgame to deal with, will this movie be weighed down by the weight of that movie? Or can it possibly hold its own? Marvel has had a pretty good run this year. Hopefully, it doesn't trip at the finish line. Initial Thoughts This is a damn good follow-up to Endgame . It's nowhere near as big in scope but it's definitely a good start to a new chapter in the MCU. Focusing more on the aftermath of Endgame and how Spider-Man is coping in a post-Iron Man world and trying to sort out his life as Peter Parker.  Spider-Man/Peter Parker/Tom Ho
