Hobbs & Shaw Review

So the Fast & Furious franchise has been going on for a while now! Starting off as just a rip-off of Point Break (1991, Kathryn Bigelow) but with cars but then slowly evolving into this globe-trotting, action thriller series that rivals even the biggest movies franchises with its huge box office numbers and loving fanbase. And now the F&F franchise dives into new waters with it's first of, hopefully, many spin-offs around two of their popular characters Hobbs & Shaw . With their frienemy relationship in Fate Of The Furious (2017, F. Gary Gray) being one of the highlights of that movie, fans are really excited to see what this spin-off has in store for them. Initial Thoughts This movie is insane! It's balls-to-the-wall mayhem and I love it! It has great action, a tonne of one-liners and three great actors that really drive the story. The F&F franchise is very well known for being bonkers in its plot and action and this doesn't disappoint. Hob...

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Review (No Spoilers)

3 years ago the Jurassic Park franchise was given its fourth instalment Jurassic World (2015, Colin Trevorrow) .   A film that went on to become a box office juggernaut. De-throning Avengers(2012, Joss Whedon)  as the third highest grossing film of all time (before Star Wars came along). And now the franchise continues with the latest instalment  Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018, J. A. Bayona) .  But with many fans criticising Jurassic World of relying heavily on Nostalgia and a director who hasn't worked on a big-budget blockbuster before, will this film reach the same level of success as its predecessor? First Thoughts This film is amazing! Whilst the first Jurassic World relied heavily on the nostalgia of the original Jurassic Park this one is more or less its own thing! It has an emotional story, the characters have improved since the previous film and the dinosaurs are incredible!  Owen/Chris Pratt I loved Chris Pratt in...

The Mummy Review (SPOILERS!!)

With many different Cinematic Universes saturating the movie theatres these days, such as the Disney's MCU, FOX's MCU, the DCEU, the Fast & Furious, many forget that the first ever Cinematic Universe was Universal's Classic Horror Universe. Featuring famous characters such as Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Now, in the very competitive film market, Universal is hoping to reboot this universe, with the new name Dark Universe , with its first entry The Mummy . Tom Cruise appears to be haveing a career renaissance, with films like Edge Of Tomorrow and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation  hitting it big with fans. Can his star power help to launch this revamp of a classic Cinematic Universe? First Thoughts Is this an enjoyable film? Yes. Is it unique or groundbreaking? Unfortunately not. I wanted to love this film! It ranked No.9 in my Top films to look out for in 2017! But, sadly, this film seems to follow the same generic conventions that audiences would ex...

Weekly Movie Highlights: Ben Affleck not directing Batman, Black Manta Casting Announcement

This week in Movie news It's been something of a rollercoaster for DC and Warner Bros. Ben Affleck has stepped down as the Director for The Batman. However, things seem to be looking good for the Aquaman project with both confirmed and rumoured casting announcements for two major characters. Also in news, Diego Luna has been cast in the remake of cult classic Scarface and Mel Gibson is up for a sequel to 2015's Daddy's Home. 1. Ben Affleck no longer directing The Batman A story that many fans didn't want to hear has, sadly, come true. Variety broke the story with quotes from Affleck stating “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.” Adding “I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director.” Which does make sense, as he’s already writing, acting and producing the film, directing would add more stress to his ...
