Avengers: Infinity War Review (No Spoilers)

A film that is 10 years in the making! Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  brings together every aspect of the MCU, all to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin) , a villain who has built up ever since the first Avengers (2012, Joss Whedon) . With Fan excitement at an all-time high, expectations off the scale and a lot to cover in just one film, Infinity War has got a lot of work to do. Can it balance everything? This is a Non-Spoiler Review. So, if you haven't seen the film then you might like to read this. However, this is one paragraph in which I talk about the finale and story structure and, whilst doesn't have anything specific, features things that could be considered spoilers to some readers. So, I would suggest skipping that paragraph if you want to see the film with a clean slate. First Thoughts This movie is insane! From beginning to end it grabs you and doesn't let go! I would compare Avengers: Infinity War to a Rollercoaster. In the sense tha

Top 10 MCU films

With Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe Russo/Anthony Russo)  about to hit theatres I thought it would be good to look back on the long road travelled and pick the top 10 films produced by Marvel Studios. Just to clarify, this list is completely subjective so this list may differ from your own personal list. Also, I will only be focusing on the films that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So any films made by Fox or Sony won't make the cut. 10. Doctor Strange The Introduction of magic into the MCU, Doctor Strange (2016, Scott Derrickson)  is a fun watch. Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Imitation Game)  does a fine job as the titular character and has a really good message of picking yourself up and rebuilding yourself when you've hit a really low point in life. The film also sports some very good visually interesting use of magic, with fight scenes that are quite suspenseful and more action-packed, unlike other fantasy films where two characters just stand

Harley Quinn/Birds Of Prey movie gets director - Situation Review!

For a while, it seemed that the Harley Quinn movie wasn't really going anywhere. Whilst she will be starring in the upcoming Suicide Squad 2 (2019, Gavin O'Connor) her other projects don't seem to have made any progression. But yesterday the project took a huge stride as it was announced that unknown director Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs, According To My Mother)  has been hired to direct a DC movie starring Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie)  and to feature the Superhero team Birds Of Prey. With the script being written by Christina Hodson (Shut in, Bumblebee). This news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood. First Thoughts I'm very intrigued by this idea. I'm not entirely on board with it, as there are things that I have issues with, but I'm very intrigued. I think Cathy Yen is an interesting choice for Harley Quinn, I'm very happy to see Margot Robbie (Wolf Of Wall Street, I, Tonya)  come back to the role, as she was very good in Suicide Squad (2016, David Ay

A Quiet Place: Non-Spoiler Review

A Quiet Place (2018)  is the third feature film to be directed by John Krasinski  (The Office, 13 Hours) . Starring Krasinski himself, along with his wife, Emily Blunt  (The Devil Wears Prada, Edge Of Tomorrow) . Centring around a family who are trying to survive in a Post-apocalypse world ravaged by creatures that can only hunt via hearing. Meaning that the family must remain very quiet in their day-to-day life. Because of this, the film has minimal dialogue. First Thoughts This movie is amazing! I went in with moderate expectations, as I really had no plans to see it. My co-workers just invited me on the day to see it and I thought I’d go. But it blew me away! The acting is great, the tension is unbelievable, and the drama is heart-breaking. Yes, whilst this film works really well as a horror it also works great as a family drama. I cannot recommend this film enough! Lee Abbott/John Krasinski I was not expecting such a powerful performance from Krasinski! But he brough

Solo: A Star Wars Story - Trailer Highlights #2

Wow, I did not expect this trailer on YouTube when I woke up this morning! In fact, I'd argue that a lot of people have actually forgotten that this film is even happening. The advertising for this film has been scarce. Plus its release date is dangerously close to that of Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo)  and Deadpool 2 (2018, David Leitch), two very anticipated films. So will Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, Ron Howard) be able to turn a profit? Or will it be the first box office disaster in this new era of the Star Wars franchise? Only time will tell! Initial Thoughts This is actually a pretty fun trailer. It's got good music, good editing, good action sequences and pretty good characters! The only issue, once again, is that the trailer is still hiding Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) , the main character. Almost like it's ashamed of him. Which is a shame. I already went over how Ehrenreich can't live up to his predecessor's  (Harrison Ford)
