Justice League 'Heroes' Trailer drops: Trailer Highlights

So Warner Bros. Has just dropped the latest trailer for, arguably, their biggest film of the year, Justice League (2017). In the past week, the promo team for this film has been stepping up their game. With two sets of posters for the main team, that look fantastic, and now audiences have been treated to this new trailer. But what makes this trailer different from the others that come before it?

Initial Thoughts

This is a damn good trailer! It has emotion, action and great character moments! What separates this from the previous trailers is that, whilst they leaned heavily on the action and presented in a flashy, adrenaline-fueled trailer, this trailer is more of a slow burner. Allowing viewers to take in the visual spectacle and the emotional, and funny, character moments. Here are the top 5 highlights in this trailer. But, before you read the rest of this post, here is the trailer itself for you to watch.

1. Lois & Clark

Clark and Lois reunited in her dreams
This trailer starts with an emotional scene. Of Lois (Amy Adams) dreaming about Clark/Superman (Henry Cavill) talking about the engagement ring that he left for her at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice before he sadly died in the fight against Doomsday. The scene is so beautiful and surreal, with a slight nod to the Superman: The Movie (1978) film, with Clark wearing a red checkered shirt against the Kent farm backdrop. Much like the funeral scene from the original movie. And then dream end with Lois waking up alone in her apartment. Really an emotional punch in the first 10 seconds. Even people who didn't really connect with the Lois and Clark romance from the previous DC films could feel that!

2. Parademon/Earth war

An unfortunate soldier being transformed into a Parademon
We've only gotten small glimpses of this epic war that took place thousands of years back against the forces of planet Earth (The Humans, Atlanteans and the Amazons) and the forces of Planet Apokalips (Darkseid, Steppenwolf and the Parademons) But this is the best look at that battle. With a look at, what I believe is, a human soldier being painfully transformed into a Parademon, as that's how Parademons are created. And the Amazons going full Dothraki (Game Of Thrones) against the army of Apokalips, by standing on the saddles of their horses. Hopefully, the full sequence is as epic as what's displayed in these clips.

3. Batman

Batman looking as awesome as ever!
Just... This shot alone is enough to make any Batman fan excited! Paying homage to, not one, but two iconic front covers of Batman stories. The obvious one being the way he's positioned. Flying in with his Grappling hook through the wind. Similar to the way he's positioned in Detective Comics #27 (1938) where he's flying through the air with his grappling hook. And the second being the main cover of The Dark Knight Returns (1986) where there's a silhouette of Batman, again, flying through the air and there's a lightning strike behind him. We did get a similar shot in Dawn Of Justice but this one works just as well. Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) seems to be set up as the Nick Fury/Iron Man of the team. Trying to get all of the heroes to rally alongside one another. Seems a fitting role for Batman as he's always been a leader and cunning strategist. Affleck has done incredibly well in the role so far and I cannot wait to see where he'll take the role from here.

4. Aquaman

Aquaman and Cyborg using Teamwork
And the Aquaman jokes have officially been declared dead! Yes, the hero labelled "The one who can talk to fish" looks better than ever in this trailer. With his conversation with Bruce Wayne, showing how much of a chip on his shoulder he has, and his team-work with Cyborg (Ray Fisher), which was a really good character moment for both of them. And, also, the way that Aquaman (Jason Momoa) fights the Parademons in, what appears to be, the final act looks incredible. Using his trident mid-air to kill as many of them as possible. I can definitely see Aquaman being a fan-favourite in this film.

5. Flash

The Flash in Action!
Now we come to the comic-relief of the film. The Flash (Ezra Miller), who has a beautiful close-up shot of him surrounded by the lightning that he produces whilst running and the final clip of him talking about the Bat-signal with Bruce and Diana (Gal Gadot). How he's so excited and overjoyed to be with them and how they look like two parents having to deal with their over-excited child. I thought it was a good and funny way to end the trailer. I believe that most of the humour in this film will come from The Flash. But also most of the heart, as he's the most inexperienced out of all of them and os he has a learning curve. Hopefully, this film does The flash justice. And may inspires a few creative minds to get his solo movie underway!

Conclusion

So yeah! This is a damn good trailer. It doesn't really drop any specific plot details or anything. But it has several character set-ups, emotional moments and definitely a lot of action. But not presenting it in a Crash. Bang. Wallop kind of way. But taking its time in presenting all of these elements so audiences can get more of an idea of the tone of the film.

So these are my thoughts on the latest Justice League Trailer. Was there anything I missed out? Is there anything you disagree with? Leave a comment down below. And if you liked this then please subscribe for more content. Thank you for reading.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Review (No Spoilers)

The final episode in the sequel trilogy, and the overall Skywalker Saga, is finally out! Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019, J.J Abrams) will hopefully answer the questions that have been set up since the beginning of this trilogy in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015, J.J Abrams) . But due to fans being displeased with this new trilogy, such as the highly negative response from fans after the previous instalment Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, Rian Johnson)  and with the latest anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, Ron Howard) being a financial disaster, can this movie live up to the success of its predecessors and redeem the franchise in the eyes of fans? First Thoughts This movie is good, I liked it as a movie. The action's good, the visuals are great and the characters are fun to watch. But as a finale to the overall Skywalker Saga, it's quite disappointing. The story feels more like it's trying to make up for lost time rather than tell a good stor...

Aladdin Movie Review (No Spoilers)

Aladdin (1992, Ron Clements/Jon Musker)  is one of the standout animated movies of the Disney Renaissance that took place in the '90s. With hit songs, like A Whole New World , and a Performances from Robin Williams (Hook, Good Will Hunting)  as the Genie. And now, with Disney producing Live-action of their animated classics, a Live-Action Aladdin seemed inevitable. But with Guy Ritchie directing (Rock'N'Rolla, Sherlock Holmes) having something a spotty track record at the box office, and with his last movie King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword  being bashed by critics. Not to mention the lacklustre first reactions to the promotional material of this movie. Should Disney be concerned with how this performs with critics and the box office? Or will this movie's nostalgia factor be enough to get it through all that? Initial Thoughts I really enjoyed this movie! From the trailers and TV Spots, this movie kinda looks like a shallow reimagining of the animated origina...

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review (SPOILERS)

Spider-Man has quite a few ups and downs since his first film in 2002. With the third movie derailing the original trilogy and then the controversial reboot in 2012. Now Spider-Man is now on his second reboot, with shared-custody between Marvel Studios/Disney and Sony. With Tom Holland coming into the role in last year's Captain America: Civil War  to tremendously positive results! With many calling him the highlight of that film. Now this version of Spider-man has been given his own solo film. With many hoping that it will bring Spider-Man back to his glory days in film. First Thoughts This film is fantastic! Really incorporating all of the elements that have made Spider-Man relatable for decades! The action is amazing, the humour is on-point (Particularly for a Spider-Man film) and the storyline is so fitting for the character! I really enjoyed the John Hughes-Inspiration that they took for this film. Giving it more of a coming-of-age feel, which is great because the f...
