Captain America Civil War: The teams revealed

Right. Feel I need to talk about the new Concept art for 2016's Batman V. Supe- Oh sorry, Captain America: Civil War. This film will be based on the popular story line Marvel Civil War. The film be about Iron Man and Captain America fighting against one another over an act which demands accountability and oversight of superheroes.

First off I have to say that the previous film, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, did not help set this film up very well, Because if anyone should fight for heroes to be held accountable for their actions it most certainly shouldn't be Iron man. If anyone deserves to be held accountable for their actions it's Tony Stark. He created Ultron. An artificial intelligence which went rogue and almost committed mass genocide. Stark did this behind the backs of his team-mates, he didn't even apologize and  he walked away scot-free. Honestly, Stark (and Bruce Banner for assisting) should be in prison for what he's done.

However, I'm hoping that the creative team behind this film will be able to address this and even play off of it for Civil War. This film will be directed by the Russo Brothers, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is my favourite Marvel Film. They were able to make Captain America relevant in the modern era and humanised him better than the comics ever did by ditching his boy scout personality and making him a man who fights for what he believes in. Even if that means going against the government.

OKAY! Lets look at these Concept Art Images! Let's start with Team Iron Man.

1)Iron Man: Whilst I don't like Tony Stark as a character I do like the Iron Man suits. And I dare say this suit is probably his best one yet. The lights around his joints look like little Arc Reactors so it's probably Stark's most powerful suit (Not including the Hulk-Buster armour, of course).

2) War Machine: I've always liked War-Machine, even when he went through his Iron Patriot phase, and I'm happy that they haven't meddled with his armour too much because why mess with perfection? It makes sense for him to be on Tony's team because of their history and the fact he works for the Government so it's logical for him to be on this team.

3) Black Widow: This is the one that makes little sense to me. Why would Black Widow be on Stark's team? Winder Soldier and Age Of Ultron set up a strong friendship between Cap and Widow so it's strange to see her on Stark's team. Maybe she actually strongly agrees that heroes should be held accountable for their actions. Yet her personality and background would suggest otherwise to that. Or perhaps she's a spy for Cap. She's already shown that she knows how to play people like violins so it's possible she's working with Cap in secret. Her costume looks better than it did in Age Of Ultron. I wasn't a big fan of her glowing blue lines on her costume. She's a spy, she's meant to be stealth! So I'm glad she's gone back to her older costume. I'm a big fan of her electric Escrima Sticks. I feel, in combat, they cause some serious damage and I really look forward to seeing her use them in action.

4) Black Panther: This is just a flipped version of earlier concept art for Black Panther so that feels a bit lazy. His costume still looks cool though. I like the African tribal necklace that he wears, very respective of the culture. I can understand why Panther would be on Stark's side, as he leads an entire nation of his own, Wakanda, he might sympathise with the Registration Act so maybe that's the reason. Also, as mentioned in Age Of Ultron, the Stark family have connections with Wakanda so that's another reason Panther is on Team Iron Man, out of respect for family history.

5) Vision: Yeah, nothing's changed at all costume-wise for Vision so really nothing to say there. But I am surprised that he's on any of the teams at all. In Age Of Ultron Vision made it clear that he wasn't technically with the Avengers but "on the side of life" when he helped them take down Ultron. So it's difficult for me to imagine him choosing a side when the Avengers split apart. I guess because he is still technically JARVIS that he might feel olbiged to be with Iron Man but still. I'm sure the film might help clear things up.

Okay that's Iron Man's team sorted. Now onto team Cap! Honestly this team looks pretty feeble to Iron Man's team in terms of firepower. But it has its players.

1) Captain America: I've liked Cap since his first film. Mainly because he was just an underdog who wanted to fight bullies. Winter Soldier helped set this up more as he fought against Hydra, a serious bully that was going to kill millions. Age Of Ultron carried on with this by also adding more to the whole Man-Out-Of-Time concept as Cap finds it difficult to connect to our time. He protects a world that he can't be a part of. I mention all of this because it's summed up fairly well in his costume. This new costume. It's keeping with the new modern costume that we've had in the last two films whilst also having elements of the costume from the first film. Clear representation that he wishes to defend the world but not wanting to be a part of it.

2) Ant-man: It's quite clear that Ant-Man is a big fan of the Avengers. Even throughout his fight with Falcon in the Ant-Man film he was constantly praising him. So I guess him being on Cap's Team kinda fits because he has a relationship set up with Falcon (If a bit rocky). However, the heads of Marvel apparently don't see him worthy of being normal sized like everyone else which is a bit annoying. If they want to up his profile a bit then they should make him bigger for the promo art!

3)Hawkeye: This doesn't quite add up, for two reasons. 1: I always thought Hawkeye favoured Iron Man over Cap as the two get along a bit better. Clint and Tony seem to have more friendly arguments with one another so I always saw them as closer. However, this could just be the same as Black Widow possibly having too strong an opinion on the situation to let friendship get in the way. 2: At the end of Age Of Ultron Hawkeye quit to live on the farm with his family. Why is he back in the field? Is this seriously that big a situation? The film should touch upon this otherwise it'll make no sense. Also his costume looks terrible. I get having only a long sleeve for his right hand, to handle the impact of the bow. But it looks crap. I actually preferred his costume in the first Avengers and it's just gone downhill since then really.

4) Sharon Carter "Agent 13": Why the Hell is she on here on not Scarlet Witch? Sharon was only in Winter Soldier for about 5 minutes, that's only just long enough to not call it a cameo. And in that film audiences never got to know her at all. Also, we don't really know what she can bring to the team, from this art she looks like a rookie Black Widow so I don't really know what she has to offer. Perhaps her role has been beefed up considerably for this film, I'm not sure. It's a real surprise that she's on here.

5) Falcon: Of course Falcon would be on this team, he and Cap are BFFs (Sorry Bucky). They've both had similar past experience being soldiers both have similar viewpoints on the world. So this was definitely going to happen. Falcon looks thinner than he did in Winter Soldier and Ant-Man. More slick, which is pretty cool. What's also interesting here is that behind is a robot bird. People have been saying that this is a bird from the comics which Falcon was able to communicate with and use to spy on enemies. I like that they've modernised it to be a robot as it makes more sense.

6) Winter Soldier: Bucky's back! and he looks cleaner than he did in Winter Soldier. Which is a bit of a shame because I liked his look in that film, the way his hair just draped over his face in a rough and filthy manner. Guess good guys have to clean their hair. But I like the way he looks as it hasn't changed too much. I like that he's on Cap's team because now we know he has his memory back! Which is good because now he can put his skills to helping the world. I look forward to seeing how his story progresses, their were nods in Winter Soldier to him replacing Cap, like in the comics, so maybe that's what they're aiming for here. Nevertheless it's great to see him here.

Alright, well that's the team's done, but I also want to talk about two characters that AREN'T on these images but SHOULD BE!

Scarlet Witch: As I mentioned earlier, I'm not too happy that Sharon Carter made the cut and Scarlet Witch didn't. Maybe she's on Stark's team? We don't know. But she was an essential character in Age Of Ultron, she was one of the best things about that film and she's grown quite a fanbase in the last year. So it sucks that she's not on here.

Spider-Man: WHAT THE HELL?! Besides Cap and Iron-Man trading punches, Spider-Man is the biggest selling point of this film. So where is he?! Everyone is so anxious to see Tom Holland as the webslinger and to not see him here is frustrating. Plus, in the comics, Spider-Man was an important piece in Civil War. Surely that earns him a place, instead of seeing just the usuals on display.

Anyway. That's my analysis on these images and the teams. Although I have a couple of problems with some of the costume designs and choices for teams I really do feel like this'll be a great film. The Russo Brothers have shown they can tell a great story and I hold high hopes for them. I hope this helped in any way. Also I'm just getting back into blogging after a 2 year hiatus. If you have any tips or comments on how I could improve these posts then please say, I'm eager to get better. Thank you.

Spider-Man Out of the MCU? - Situation Review

A couple of days ago it was revealed that re-negotiations between Sony and Disney around Spider-Man have fallen through and the character will be taken out of the MCU entirely. This has come as quite a shock to most fans, especially after the release of the latest movie Spider-Man: Far From Home (John Watts)  which recently passed the $1 Billion mark in the worldwide box office.     So what does this mean for the future of the beloved Superhero? Well in this Situation Review I will be discussing why Sony did what they did and several possibilities for what will happen with Spider-Man. Disney Vs Sony So, the decision comes after Disney wanted to change the deal that they had with Sony so that they would gain 50% of the overall gross of the Spider-Man movies, rather than the 5% that they were currently receiving. A move that Sony wasn't happy with.     Now, if they were only talking about the movies then this would seem like a fair deal. The two studios would split the c

SDCC 2018. Top Five Movie Trailers

SDCC has come and gone, and with it, a whole load of movie trailers have dropped for fans to sink their teeth into! Overall, it seems that Warner Bros. dominated the convention, bringing in new content from most of their divisions, such as DC, The Wizarding World and their Monster Universe. So, without further ado, here is my top 5 list of the movie trailers that were released this year for Comic-Con. 5. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald The hype for this new chapter in the Wizarding World continues with the latest trailer. Whilst the trailer doesn't really reveal a lot more than the previous trailer it does give us some good moments. The beginning with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as a child showing his greatest fear is working behind a desk or that Dumbledore (Jude Law)  sees Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in the Mirror of Erised. We even get to see new beasts, such as the strange cat creatures, and the first look at Nicholas Flemel, the creator of the Philosoph

Spider-Man: Far From Home Review (No Spider-Man spoilers, Endgame Spoilers)

So after the immense success of Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) , becoming the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time. And now, Marvel hopes to continue their ongoing story with Season 2 Episode 1. Spider-Man: Far From Home (Jon Watts) . The second movie in the MCU's new Spider-Man trilogy, which has proved incredibly popular with fans of both the MCU and Spider-Man in general. But with things like the events of Endgame to deal with, will this movie be weighed down by the weight of that movie? Or can it possibly hold its own? Marvel has had a pretty good run this year. Hopefully, it doesn't trip at the finish line. Initial Thoughts This is a damn good follow-up to Endgame . It's nowhere near as big in scope but it's definitely a good start to a new chapter in the MCU. Focusing more on the aftermath of Endgame and how Spider-Man is coping in a post-Iron Man world and trying to sort out his life as Peter Parker.  Spider-Man/Peter Parker/Tom Ho
