Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo)  is the end of the long-running story arc that has been building since that very first movie back in 2008. After the tremendous success of Aquaman (James Wan, 2018)  DC has high hopes for its latest movie Shazam! (David Sandberg, 2019) based on the Golden Age Superhero, originally named Captain Marvel, the story centres around a young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) who is able to turn into an adult (Zachary Levi) with powers similar to Superman when he says the word "SHAZAM!". Whilst not a very well known superhero, the character does have something of a cult following and is very well known among the DC fanbase. Particularly for being able to hold his own against Superman. But whether or not he can hold his own movie, particularly next to DC's highly iconic Superhero pantheon, is another thing. Yesterday Marvel, without warning, released the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame (Joe & Anthony Russo) . After the first trailer and the Superbowl teaser gave absolutely nothing away, fans are hoping that this trailer will give them something that will tell them how the Avengers are going to undo the events of Infinity War (2018, Joe & Anthony Russo) . First Thoughts Damn, this trailer hits you in the feels, whilst also upping the hype! It looks back on where the heroes have been and where they are now. Whilst also setting up a huge confrontation. And it does all of this without giving anything away! There is no clear message or indicator for the plan to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin)  but has a lot to offer fans for what they can expect from the characters that they have been following for 11 years. Marvel continues its saga with the latest instalment Captain Marvel (2019, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck) . Set in the 90s, and pre-dating the first MCU movie Iron Man (2008, Jon Favreau) , the movie follows a Kree Soldier who falls to Earth and slowly discovers that she used to be human, whilst also dealing with an invasion of shape-shifting aliens called the Skrulls. This movie is the first Solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that features a female lead and acts as the set-up for the character appearing in Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) . So there are some high expectations for this movie. After Wonder Woman (2017, Patty Jenkins)  proved how successful a female-lead Superhero movie can be, and the fact that it benefits from a highly loved cinematic franchise, hopefully, this movie can live up to those expectations.  First Thoughts Yeah, this a good movie. Whilst comic book movies have become a staple in the blockbuster landscape, Manga/Anime adaptations have had a problem getting off the ground. Dragonball: Evolution (2009, James Wong)  was hated by anime fans and recently, Ghost In The Shell (2017, Rupert Sanders) failed to click with audiences. But now director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Sin City) and Producer James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar)  are hoping to change that with their adaptation of the Manga series Alita: Battle Angel. First Thoughts This is a good movie. It's fun, exciting and action-packed. The acting in it is quite good and the VFX are incredible. Although, it's not without its problems. Tonally, the film isn't quite sure what it wants to be and the story is quite muddled. Rosa Salazar/Alita Rosa Salazar (The Maze Runner, Insurgent) does a really good job as the lead. As many of you are aware, DC has many projects lined up for the future. But one that has the most speculation behind it is Matt Reeves's Batman Solo film. This film has produced so many headlines and it doesn't even have a release date yet. From Ben Affleck (Argo, Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice) stepping down as director and writer of the film, to Matt Reeves (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Let Me In)  stepping in as director and writer, and now news that pre-production has been pushed back to later this year! Whilst no points been properly mentioned I'm going to make a list of 5 ideas for what the plot for the new Batman film could centre around. I'm not saying that these stories MUST be in the film. Matt Reeves is a good director and story-teller, also a grown man who can make his own decisions.
