Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Recently this week the new trailer for 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was released, and I gotta say I love it! It really set the stage for the film, particularly in the first minute of the trailer, and gave audiences their first look at one of Superman's most dangerous villains. Here are the five things to take away from the trailer:

1) Bruce Wayne V Clark Kent
Words Cannot describe how much I loved this part of the trailer as it set the rivalry between the two main characters perfectly. This isn't just a fight of strength but of morals and values: Clark Kent expresses his dislike of Batman's brutal methods whilst Bruce Wayne expresses his distaste for a God-Like being who could wipe humanity if he so wished. It's a great to not only have the heroes fight but also their alter egos, and how important they are in this conflict. Also, it's a change of pace to see two heroes simply talk about their issues with one another rather than just use a bunch of quips to make the other feel degraded.

2) Lex Luthor
I'll admit, I wasn't too sure on Lex when I first saw him in this trailer. He came across as highly talkative and obnoxious. But, after thinking about it, I kinda feel like this would make sense for him. Lex Luthor has always been a man who felt like he was God's gift to man so the obnoxiousness fits. However, I really do hope that he'll become the Luthor fans loved from the comics and animated shows. Who was more calm and collected. Hopefully the events of this film will turn into that man, we've seen a pic of Lex with no hair already so it's possible. But, for now, I'm willing to accept this version of him.

3) Batman Vs. Superman!
"If I wanted it you'd be dead already!" Shouts an angry Superman to the Dark Knight. And it's no lie! It's fascinating to see the Man Of Steel show so much restraint, particularly after murdering Zod, it shows how much he doesn't want to cross that line again. The look of the fight between these two is intense! We see both opponents get some good punches against one another. Batman's armour looks so amazing! Especially the glowing eyes, like in the comics! From Superman's restraint and Batman's desire to kick his ass over the Battle of Metropolis it's quite clear this is going to be a really emotional fight. Where the two ideologies of justice and peace clash! I'm so looking forward to this fight.

4) Doomsday
This is the part that kinda split the fanbase. Either on whether the trailer revealed too much or the look of the iconic villain. Personally I like it. Everyone already knew Doomsday was going to be in it. Primarily because the official Synopsis said that a greater threat would unite Batman and Superman. Also Michael Shannon kinda dropped the ball when he said he was on the set of the film. Plus, this is Doomsday when he's just been born. He's designed to become stronger every time he dies so it makes sense that he doesn't 100% look like his comic counterpart. But overall I think the fight with Doomsday is gonna be epic as Hell and the character serves as a great catalyst for the Batman/Superman alliance.

5) DC TRINITY!
The fanboy in me screamed like Hell out of joy due to this one shot! The first time in history that the DC Trinity are together in Live Action and posed, ready for battle. I love how Wonder Woman looks in her warrior's stance, and I can't wait to see what role she plays in the overall story. I love Superman standing casually. He's all powerful, he doesn't need to pose that much. I'm curious as to why Batman is carrying a gun, or why he isn't wearing his armour to fight DOOMSDAY! Maybe Superman bashed it up too much? We'll have to see. I really hope that's not a standard gun as the whole "No Guns" Code is pretty sacred to the Batman Lore, but we'll have to wait and see.

So that's the 5 main things I took away from this trailer. I loved it, this is perhaps my most anticipated film, maybe tying with Force Awakens, and I can't wait until it comes out in March.

Thank you for reading. I haven't been posting a lot lately due to University work but I'm gonna do my best to post as much as I can. Please follow this blog if you like it. :)

Auteurship: David Fincher

The Auteur theory is that a director's film reflects the director's personal creative vision.  I am going to use  David Fincher as an example, because he usually has similar aspects throughout all of his films such as bleakness of a setting; several single frames that flash, low-key lighting and characters that are in the shadows so you can’t see their faces. All of these styles can be found in Fight Club (1999). In most of Fincher’s films the settings seem to have a bleak and uninteresting look to them. In Fight Club this is shown in places like the office of where Jack works, the cancer support group hall, Jack’s apartment. All of these places are just different shades of the same colour (mainly green, grey or dark orange). This is to convey a sense of misery and darkness within the storyline, which the characters are just drifting through their lives. Something that Fincher portrays beautifully in Fight Club. This is a good example of David Fincher’s position as an Au...

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Review (No Spoilers)

The final episode in the sequel trilogy, and the overall Skywalker Saga, is finally out! Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019, J.J Abrams) will hopefully answer the questions that have been set up since the beginning of this trilogy in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015, J.J Abrams) . But due to fans being displeased with this new trilogy, such as the highly negative response from fans after the previous instalment Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, Rian Johnson)  and with the latest anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, Ron Howard) being a financial disaster, can this movie live up to the success of its predecessors and redeem the franchise in the eyes of fans? First Thoughts This movie is good, I liked it as a movie. The action's good, the visuals are great and the characters are fun to watch. But as a finale to the overall Skywalker Saga, it's quite disappointing. The story feels more like it's trying to make up for lost time rather than tell a good stor...

Oz: The great and Powerful Review

When I first heard that this film was being made I was very skeptical. The Original film with Dorothy and the wicked witch was an important part of many people's childhood that it seemed that this prequel couldn't live up to it. But after seeing it at the cinema my skepticism was laid to rest. This film is AWESOME!!!    The film follows a similar structure narrative-wise to that of the Wizard of Oz. You start off with in Kansas where everything is in black-and-white, keeping to continuity, then you have the twister that takes the character to the land of Oz. The audience is then introduced important characters like Theodora and Evanora, we even get the journey down the yellow-brick road. The writers have brilliantly taken all these elements from the previous film and used them to create a contemporary origin to the Oz that children were introduced too in 1939.    James Franco was well cast in this role as a rude and selfish magician who w...
