Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Review (No Spoilers)

The final episode in the sequel trilogy, and the overall Skywalker Saga, is finally out! Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019, J.J Abrams) will hopefully answer the questions that have been set up since the beginning of this trilogy in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015, J.J Abrams) . But due to fans being displeased with this new trilogy, such as the highly negative response from fans after the previous instalment Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, Rian Johnson)  and with the latest anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, Ron Howard) being a financial disaster, can this movie live up to the success of its predecessors and redeem the franchise in the eyes of fans? First Thoughts This movie is good, I liked it as a movie. The action's good, the visuals are great and the characters are fun to watch. But as a finale to the overall Skywalker Saga, it's quite disappointing. The story feels more like it's trying to make up for lost time rather than tell a good stor

Spider-Man Out of the MCU? - Situation Review

A couple of days ago it was revealed that re-negotiations between Sony and Disney around Spider-Man have fallen through and the character will be taken out of the MCU entirely. This has come as quite a shock to most fans, especially after the release of the latest movie Spider-Man: Far From Home (John Watts)  which recently passed the $1 Billion mark in the worldwide box office.     So what does this mean for the future of the beloved Superhero? Well in this Situation Review I will be discussing why Sony did what they did and several possibilities for what will happen with Spider-Man. Disney Vs Sony So, the decision comes after Disney wanted to change the deal that they had with Sony so that they would gain 50% of the overall gross of the Spider-Man movies, rather than the 5% that they were currently receiving. A move that Sony wasn't happy with.     Now, if they were only talking about the movies then this would seem like a fair deal. The two studios would split the c

Hobbs & Shaw Review

So the Fast & Furious franchise has been going on for a while now! Starting off as just a rip-off of Point Break (1991, Kathryn Bigelow) but with cars but then slowly evolving into this globe-trotting, action thriller series that rivals even the biggest movies franchises with its huge box office numbers and loving fanbase. And now the F&F franchise dives into new waters with it's first of, hopefully, many spin-offs around two of their popular characters Hobbs & Shaw . With their frienemy relationship in Fate Of The Furious (2017, F. Gary Gray) being one of the highlights of that movie, fans are really excited to see what this spin-off has in store for them. Initial Thoughts This movie is insane! It's balls-to-the-wall mayhem and I love it! It has great action, a tonne of one-liners and three great actors that really drive the story. The F&F franchise is very well known for being bonkers in its plot and action and this doesn't disappoint. Hob

Star Wars Episode IX Sith Trooper Armour - Image Analysis

So Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker (JJ Abrams)  is set to hit theatres later this year in December. And to promote the movie we now have an official look at some new Stormtrooper armour, which will belong to a group of Stormtroopers called Sith Troopers. Whilst little has been said about what the role of this type of trooper will be. Only that it is "The next evolution of the Imperial First Order Soldier". In this post, I will go over what I think of the design and what I think it might mean for the movie. First Thoughts I don't really care much for the design. Personally, it just looks like regular stormtrooper armour painted red and given more detailed patterns. Other than that there's really nothing that seems to separate it from regular stormtrooper armour. Even the weapon looks the same, with some red parts added. I really think that this design is just to sell toys and not much else. And whilst that is something that Star Wars is known f

Spider-Man: Far From Home Review (No Spider-Man spoilers, Endgame Spoilers)

So after the immense success of Avengers: Endgame (2019, Joe & Anthony Russo) , becoming the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time. And now, Marvel hopes to continue their ongoing story with Season 2 Episode 1. Spider-Man: Far From Home (Jon Watts) . The second movie in the MCU's new Spider-Man trilogy, which has proved incredibly popular with fans of both the MCU and Spider-Man in general. But with things like the events of Endgame to deal with, will this movie be weighed down by the weight of that movie? Or can it possibly hold its own? Marvel has had a pretty good run this year. Hopefully, it doesn't trip at the finish line. Initial Thoughts This is a damn good follow-up to Endgame . It's nowhere near as big in scope but it's definitely a good start to a new chapter in the MCU. Focusing more on the aftermath of Endgame and how Spider-Man is coping in a post-Iron Man world and trying to sort out his life as Peter Parker.  Spider-Man/Peter Parker/Tom Ho

Toy Story 4 Review (No Spoilers)

Toy Story   (1995, John Lasseter) is arguably one of the most influential movies when it comes to animation. Pioneering the digital age of animated movies, which has now eclipsed the more traditional hand-drawn method, and made the Pixar the top animation studio in Hollywood! And still to this day the Toy Story  franchise is Pixar's biggest hit. Audiences initially thought that Toy Story 3 (2010, Lee Unkrich) would be the ending for this franchise. With the toys saying goodbye their owner, Andy, in quite an emotional way.     But now it seems that Pixar isn't quite done with Toy Story  just yet! As this new instalment brings back everyone's favourite characters for one last ride! But after the love and praise that the last instalment received, can this new movie live up to the hype? Initial Thoughts This is a good movie. It's fun, enjoyable and hilarious. Plus, fans of the previous movies will get quite a kick out of it. However, I got to say, compared to the

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Review (No Spoilers)

Godzilla is one of the most recognisable movie characters in history. Being a staple in Japanese cinema. However, he hasn't really faired well in Hollywood. There was the first movie adaptation in 1998 directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, 2012)  which many fans of the character took a serious disliking too and then there was the reboot in 2014 directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One)  which fans were nicer too but overall weren't entirely pleased. But that movie was the first in a cinematic Monster Universe that Warner Bros is hoping to continue. With the 2014 Godzilla movie, Kong: Skull Island (2017, Jordan Vogt-Roberts) and with this current follow-up Godzilla: King Of The Monsters (2019, Michael Dougherty) .  Initial Thoughts This movie is awesome! Sure, it's dumb and loud. But it's a movie about giant monsters fighting each other. It's not meant to be deep and meaningful. It's meant to be crazy and explosive! And it does that very well. So i
